Principal: Mr. Kyle Palmer

Dr. Kyle Palmer is beginning his 10th year as Principal of Lewis and Clark Elementary. Dr. Palmer began his
career as a 4th grade teacher for 7 years in Ankeny, Iowa. He received his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa, a master’s degree in Education Leadership from Drake University, and a doctoral degree from Baker University in spring, 2013. His wife Tarah is an Assistant Principal in North Kansas City and they have been married for 14 years. Dr. Palmer has 4 children...three sons, Karson (7th grader) and Kal (First Grader), Kaufmann (almost 1 year old) and one daughter Klaire (5th grader).  Dr. Palmer enjoys spending time with family and friends, sports, laughing, watching movies, reading and working with the wonderful LC Family. Dr. Palmer welcomes you to our school and wants you to know that the staff will do everything they can to help your child be successful and enjoy learning.

Assistant Principal: Mrs. Sheryl Ferguson


Sheryl Ferguson is in her fifth year in Liberty, and tenth year in education. She started her teaching career in North Kansas City as an Elementary Special Education Teacher.  She continued in her role as an Special Education Teacher in Liberty at Alexander Doniphan Elementary before moving to Blue Springs School District where she was a Special Education Process Coordinator. 

Mrs. Ferguson graduated with honors from William Jewell College with degrees in Psychology and Religion. She then earned her teaching certificate, a Master of Science in Special Education, as well as her Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.

Mrs. Ferguson has a passion for working as part of a team to help students achieve their potential and enjoys working with students and teachers to create a positive school environment where all students can be successful.  She loves seeing students exceed their own expectations in the learning community.

Outside of school, Mrs. Ferguson enjoys spending time with her husband, Travis, who also teaches in Liberty Public Schools, and their three children Grant (8th grader), Sophia (6th grader), and Lillian (Kindergartener). She also enjoys spending time with friends, reading, and staying physically active through running and participating in CrossFit.
