Principal: Mr. Mitch Hiser

Welcome Mr. Hiser!

Mr. Mitch Hiser is a passionate educator and principal who believes that ALL kids can succeed!  He desires to serve Lewis and Clark as staff work together to “do whatever it takes to prepare each student to achieve his or her personal best”.  Mr. Hiser taught 10 years in the classroom (Spanish, First Grade, Third Grade), served as an Instructional Coach for 1 year, and 2 years as assistant principal at South Valley Middle School. He is entering his first year as principal at Lewis and Clark Elementary, THE BEST PLACE TO BE IN LIBERTY!  


Mr. Hiser received both Masters (Educational Leadership) and Specialist (Superintendency) degrees from Northwest Missouri State University, and is currently working toward finishing his Doctorate (Education).


Outside of school, Mr. Hiser can be found spending time with his wife, Kellie, and two daughters, Kate (7) and Elsie (4).  He enjoys anything outdoors, anything family and friends, and all things reading.

Assistant Principal: Mrs. Sheryl Ferguson

Sheryl Ferguson is in her sixth year in Liberty, and eleventh year in education. She started her teaching career in North Kansas City as an Elementary Special Education Teacher.  She continued in her role as an Special Education Teacher in Liberty at Alexander Doniphan Elementary before moving to Blue Springs School District where she was a Special Education Process Coordinator. 

Mrs. Ferguson graduated with honors from William Jewell College with degrees in Psychology and Religion. She then earned her teaching certificate, a Master of Science in Special Education, as well as her Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.

Mrs. Ferguson has a passion for working as part of a team to help students achieve their potential and enjoys working with students and teachers to create a positive school environment where all students can be successful.  She loves seeing students exceed their own expectations in the learning community.

Outside of school, Mrs. Ferguson enjoys spending time with her husband, Travis, who also teaches in Liberty Public Schools, and their three children Grant (9th grader), Sophia (7th grader), and Lillian (1st grader). She also enjoys spending time with friends, reading, and staying physically active through running and participating in CrossFit.
